Heat pumps with solar and battery storage
Solar PV and battery storage can work alongside a heat pump, but Airwarm’s role is to design the heating system and make sure the two projects are considered together. We do not design or specify the solar installation.
What Airwarm can advise on
During the heat-pump assessment and survey, tell us about any existing solar, battery storage or plans to add them. We can take that information into account when considering the heat-pump installation, electrical requirements and practical coordination.
A heat pump does not require solar panels to work. If you are considering both, it is sensible for the heating and solar installers to understand what the other is planning.
Airwarm can flag points that may need coordination. The suitability, size, layout, equipment and expected performance of a solar or battery system should be assessed by the solar specialist.
Solar Capture
Where a customer wants solar PV or battery storage, our current delivery partner is Solar Capture Ltd, a West Yorkshire solar and battery specialist.
Solar Capture carries out its own assessment, design, quotation and installation under a separate contract. They decide whether the property is suitable and what solar or battery system, if any, is appropriate.
We will only pass your details to them if you ask us to.
Already have solar or a battery?
That is useful information for the heat-pump survey. If you have the basic system details available, we can record them and coordinate with the relevant specialist where necessary. We will not attempt to redesign or assess the solar system ourselves.
